Just toward the ocean, and south of Portland, Nehalem Falls campground was one of the better sites I’ve been to in Oregon; almost all these car camps have great facilities (vault toilets, water pumps, etc.). Luxurious, but not European deluxe. There were some teenagers that camped nearby that were a little loud at night, but not terribly obnoxious. They slept in their cars
. A fabulous drive through is included in the package, but don’t miss the campground down the gravel road like I did.

In the late afternoon light, kids frolicked and toasted toes and marshmallows. But, what fabulous light you say?

Just how much mastery of the sun can one have? How can the light balance so perfectly and light subjects so well in the middle of a forest?
If you brought your light with you!

such pretty reflections, jack.
you’re clever. although i must say… with kids around, i would not have the cajones to
have something standing up that might get knocked over. then again, i would probably
be more worried about them knocking over a tent.
Where did you get such puffy marshmallows? Is it wise to walk around in the woods with no shoes.
What beautiful children, they look especially well-behaved! They must have brilliant mothers . . . ah–parents.
